DIWALI MELA - DAY 1

Like previous years PARWA organized two-day Diwali Mela in central park, Pragati apartments. Children participated in large numbers in all activities - drawing, poem reciting, fancy dress. Participation from parents and grand-parents was not very encouraging. Most of them had to come accompanying their kids participating in various competitions. Some residents of Paschim Puri also participated by organizing stalls and taking part in Tambola.

Some members of PARWA EC were conspicuous by their absence. It was nice to see some residents extending their cooperation in conducting Tambola, which was a great attraction in all age groups.

On first day, three competitions were held - drawing, poem reciting and fancy dress. A panel of three judges judged the participants and selected winners for first, second and third prize. To recognize and appreciate the enthusiasm of children, it was announced that all children participating in any activity will be givcn consolation prizes.

Some PARWA prizes were made more atractive, courtesy Autovikas, by adding two Fun cinema tickets.

People in all age groups enjoyed food items of their choice and taste. There were complaints that the choice of food items was limited.

Overall a good show. PARWA President, Secretary, other EC members and residents deserve congratulations. It could have been organized much better but that needs cooperation of all EC members and residents and unfortunately that is lacking. Also PARWA, as a matter of habit, does not believe in systematic working.

Fifth meeting of PARWA EC

PARWA EC had its fifth meeting on 3rd October 2009.

आज १७ वर्ष का हो गया प्रगति अपार्टमेंट्स. पार्वा ने सेन्ट्रल पार्क के पास आज प्रगति दिवस मनाया. पार्वा सचिव श्री मलिक ने वर्ष १९९२ के ४ अक्टूबर दिन को याद किया जब इन अपार्टमेंट्स का नामकरण किया गया था 'प्रगति अपार्टमेंट्स'. उस दिन भी एक ऐसा ही कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया था जिस में तत्कालीन सांसद श्री सज्जन कुमार भी उपस्थित थे. पार्वा अध्यक्ष श्री चड्ढा ने उस समारोह के आयोजन में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई थी. इन सत्रह वर्षों में प्रगति अपार्टमेंट्स ने कितनी प्रगति की है, इस पर मलिक जी ने संक्षेप में प्रकाश डाला. अपार्टमेंट्स के वरिष्ट नागरिक श्री नन्द लाल जी ने भी उस दिन को याद किया.

अगले वर्ष हमारा प्रगति अप्र्त्मेंट्स १८ वर्ष का हो जाएगा. मलिक जी ने यह घोषणा की कि उस अवसर पर एक भव्य समारोह आयोजित किया जाएगा. उन्हनें सब निवासियों से निवेदन किया कि मिल जुल कर सामूहिक रूप से प्रगति अपार्टमेंट्स की प्रगति में भागीदार बनें.

Beware, do not play with trees

I have just now read a post on a discussion forum about pruning and cutting of trees. In a Cooperative Group Housing Society in Mumbai, -the managing committee pruned/cut around 20 trees. NMMC came to know about it and the managing committee was penalized for Rs. 20,000/- for illegal tree pruning/cutting.

So, PARWA and residents, beware of playing with trees. If any trees are to be pruned/cut, it should make an application to concerned government department.

Dussehra in Pragati Apartments

Residents of Pragati Apartments celebrated Dussehra in a big way on 28th September 2009. Puja was performed. Atishwaji was organized. Ravan was burnt.

पहले विजयादशमी का पूजन हुआ.

फिर हुई आतिशवाजी.

बच्चों ने बनाया था एक छोटा रावण और लंका.
सबसे पहले उसे जलाया.

फिर जलाया बड़ा रावण.

खूब मजा आया. सबने पूरे उत्साह से आयोजन में भाग लिया.
पार्क के बहार गुब्बारे थे, धनुष-वाण और गदाएँ थीं.
चाट वाला भी था.

आयोजन की सफलता पर सब को वधाई.
पार्वा अध्यक्ष, मुख्य सचिव और उनके साथियों ने बहुत मेहनत की दशहरा पर्व आयोजित करने में. पार्वा कर्मचारियों का भी पूरा सहयोग रहा.

Supplementary Telephone Directory 2009

PARWA released its Supplementary Telephone Directory 2009 on the eve of Independence Day. The directory incorporates changes arising out of some residents moving in and out of the apartments, introduction of intercom facilities on MTNL telephone numbers and changes in existing telephone numbers.

Lot of efforts have gone in to the preparation of this directory. A form was designed to collect the information from residents. Each resident was approached individually. It was the hardest part of the entire exercise. A large section of residents take pride in not cooperating with PARWA EC. I do not understand what pleasure they get in doing this. Perhaps it is a part of their negative approach towards life and people.

Information received was put in printable format, advertisements were collected, negotiations with the printer, designing etc etc, were many things to do. Credit goes to Shri R. K. Chadha, President. He did it single handedly, of course with some inputs and assistence from other EC members.

A job well done.

Pragati Apartments residents celebrate Independence Day

Like all previous years, residents of Pragati Apartments celebrated Independence Day in the Central Park on Saturday, August 15, 2009. President, Shri R; K. Chadha unfurled the National Flag. National Anthem was sung. It was drizzling and the weather has become very pleasant.

3rd meeting of PARWA EC

PARWA EC had its third meeting on 09.08.2009. Various issues were discussed and decisions taken.

It is a matter of great disappointment that a large section of residents are not extending any cooperation to PARWA EC in sorting out various problems being faced by residents of Pragati Apartments. These problems relate to security in the apartments, pasting stickers on and parking of vehicles, paying PARWA subscription in time, cleanliness and good neighbourly relations. Lot of time of PARWA EC members is being wasted in attending to problems created by residents themselves. Pragati Apartments can become a medel residential complex but non-cooperative and irresponsible attitude of a section of residents is coming in its way.
